His Excellency Mohammed Al Jadaan, Minister of Finance, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Khulaifi, Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) participated in the joint meeting of Arab Bank Governors and World Bank Group President held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC, United States of America.

 The meeting focused on the Arab countries development efforts and challenges, including World Bank attempts in strengthening the partnership with the Arab countries. His Excellency Mohammed Al Jadaan, Minister of Finance, delivered a speech as a representative of the Arab Ministers of Finance Council, in which he expressed the Arab countries appreciation for the World Bank efforts in the region. He also called on the World Bank to intensify its efforts and expand its activities in the region through funding and technical consultations, which will contribute to implementing the reforms necessary to support the growth and development of the region's countries. Moreover, He called on the World Bank to strengthen its support to help develop capital markets, improve debt management frameworks, encourage private sector investment, and promote innovation and access to finance, especially for SMEs. The Minister stressed the need to increase financial and technical assistance to address the challenges facing the Palestinian people, especially by increasing the West Bank and Gaza Strip credit fund. Additionally, He emphasized that more efforts should be made in the field of financial sector development in cooperation with Arab financial institutions; as well as providing training for Arab countries, which would support the implementation of financial inclusion reforms, capital market development, and pension systems.

In conclusion, His Excellency Mohammed Al Jadaan thanked the World Bank Group for its efforts and support to the Arab countries, hoping to expand the partnership to promote sustainable development in Arab countries.
