The developed mechanism workshops for the preparation of the new budget have been concluded at the Ministry of Finance in Riyadh on Thursday, 2 Rajab 1438H (March 30, 2017).
The number of the attendance, over ten days, exceeded 1400 government representatives, representing 152 government agencies) Saudi ministries, departments and universities).
These workshops aimed at introducing the developed mechanism for the preparation of the new budget project, in line with the Financial Balance Program, which is considered as one of the basic programs to achieve Vision 2030. It aims to strengthen public finance and to innovate new developed mechanisms for preparation of the budget, including capital projects and its approved mechanism which will enable ministries and government agencies to get better planning for their budgets and to achieve spending prioritization for their national transformation program 2020 initiatives, so this will provide them with the right foundation for launching the vision of the Kingdom in 2030. This will also contribute to enhance the financial capacity, transparency and accuracy. Nonetheless , it will also create a multi-stakeholder channels, for communication on the ongoing budget preparation, between Ministry of Finance, government agencies and others .
It is worth mentioning that these workshops were launched on Sunday, 20 Jumada II 1438 AH (19 March 2017), and lasted for 10 days, during this period, 20 workshops were held in the morning and evening. There were a large attendance by a number of prominent representatives of government ministries, agencies, government departments and universities which belong to nine main sectors: education; infrastructure and transport; economic resources; security and administrative areas; health and social development; military sector; public administration and municipal services.
In the same context, a number of participants expressed the actual importance of these workshops in terms of enabling them to have better practices in implementing the new and developed mechanism for the preparation of budgets, for ministries and government agencies in line with the initiatives of each body, within the framework of the National Transition Program 2020, and with the main directions of the ambitious 2030 vision of the Kingdom. These workshops also contributed to achieve a better level of communication between employees in different government agencies, and also helped the Ministry of Finance to share with the attendees their expectations in terms of the budget preparation method.
