H.E. the Saudi Vice Minister of Finance, Mr. Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf, co-chaired on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with Economic Secretary to the Treasury for the United Kingdom, Ms. Emma Reynolds, a Financial Connectivity Workshop, held on the sidelines of the "GREAT FUTURES" flagship summit in London, under the guidance of the Saudi-UK Strategic Partnership Council.
The workshop was designed to strengthen UK-Saudi collaboration in the financial sector—including sustainable infrastructure financing, capital markets development, pension funds, and insurance cooperation—through cross-border investment and joint reform initiatives, as well as to leverage innovative platforms such as e-commerce pathways, FinTech solutions, and advanced payment systems in order to accelerate long-term economic growth.
During the workshop, Vice Minister Alkhalaf said, "The UK is a partner in multilateral institutions such as the IMF, World Bank, and the G20, where we work together to promote the growth and resilience of global markets for all nations." He added that the Kingdom regularly engages with UK officials to strengthen bilateral ties through strategic dialogues and cooperation in various fields.
He further noted that Saudi Vision 2030 emphasizes the pivotal role of the private sector, stressing that this solid partnership increases Saudi Arabia's competitiveness in many sectors, as well as enhances its ability to prepare citizens to be ready for the workforce of the future.
The Great Futures initiative was launched under the Economic & Social Committee of the Saudi-UK Strategic Partnership Council. It brings together senior representatives from government and the private sector in both nations, with the aim of strengthening collaboration through 13 promising sectors and building enduring public-private partnerships.
