 Saudi Minister of Finance Participates in 3rd G7 Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors Meeting

His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Aljadaan, participated in the third G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting under the Italian G7 Presidency, held May 23-25, 2024 in Stresa, Italy.

 Minister Aljadaan attended four sessions that addressed the current global economic situation. During the “Artificial Intelligence and Development: Challenges and Opportunities" session, he stressed Saudi Arabia's commitment to playing a pivotal role in advancing technology, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence, to foster inclusive growth and sustainable development globally. He also said during the “Addressing Financing Needs of Vulnerable Countries" session, that the proposed “multidimensional approach" to dealing with debt vulnerabilities has potential, with the goals of creating fiscal space, improving resilience, and progressing towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

 During the “Initiatives for Development with a Focus on Africa," session, Minister Aljadaan noted that Africa has great potential, represented in its ambitious people, its young population, and its rich natural resources. He also highlighted during the “Cross-Border Payments" session, that the G20 under the Saudi Presidency in 2020 agreed to a clear roadmap to support cross-border payments, which resulted in the establishment of the Cross-Border Payments Coordination Group (CPC) to work with international organizations in enhancing cross-border payments globally, and that it is important to build on the current efforts in this regard.

 On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Aljadaan met with a number of ministers and leaders of international organizations to discuss the latest economic and financial developments and other topics of common interest.​
