The Saudi Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations, Dr. Ryadh Alkhareif, participated in the first G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies meeting under the Finance Track of the Brazilian presidency from 14-15 December 2023.​

The meeting included eight main sessions that focused on various financial, economic, environmental, and social topics among the priorities proposed by Brazil for its G20 presidency.

During the meeting, Dr. Alkhareif, confirmed the Kingdom's support for the priorities under the Brazilian G20 Presidency, and welcomed the efforts made to address the international challenges, especially those facing the Global South.

He also underscored the need to build upon the previous initiatives that were launched during the Saudi G20 Presidency in 2020, including the   Common Framework initiative on debt treatment and the Circular Carbon Economy initiative, as well as many other practical initiatives that resulted from the Saudi G20 Presidency.

He also stressed the need to strengthen the role of multilateral development banks to achieve their development goals, and explore options to further strengthen partnerships between multilateral development banks and private sector investors to leverage their existing resources and expertise.

The G20 Finance Track, led by finance ministers and central bank governors, focuses on key economic and financial issues, and provides an effective platform for discussing global economic and financial challenges, and coordinating the policies necessary to address them.
