The Saudi Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with Capacity Development Institute at the International Monetary Fund, lunched a 10-day workshop titled "Macroeconomic Forecasts Using Standard Models", commencing on Sunday, 10 December 2023. The workshop will take place with the attendance of 16 employees from external and internal entities.
The workshop, designed for highly qualified employees with distinguished experience, will focus on macroeconomic forecasts using several advanced programs, and will include training on high-level financial and economic modeling by identifying the fundamentals, characteristics, and limitations of a number of econometric models.
The workshop will also cover the use of the "Eviews" program to apply modeling techniques that enhance policy analysis and forecasting capabilities, as well as how to formulate and estimate real-time forecast regressions using several methods, including "Bridge", "MIDAS", and "U-MIDAS", in addition to identifying the short-term forecasts methods, real-time forecast from regression, and integrating competing forecasts using a forecast ensemble.
This workshop is part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen skills and capacities in macroeconomics and forecasting. It is a segment of a series of collaborative activities with international organizations aimed at supporting knowledge development and effective exchange of expertise
