In the presence of His Excellency the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Saleh Alfuraih, the Saudi Ministry of Finance held with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh two seminars, on November 11 & 19, 2024. The seminars reviewed the most important newly released reports of the (IMF), including the “Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia (REO)" for the first seminar, and "The Fiscal Monitor: Putting a Lid on Public Debt" for the second seminar.
These sessions covered recent economic developments, projections, and the economic impacts of regional and global challenges. They also provided an opportunity to exchange insights and perspectives with participants from the Ministry of Finance, Saudi Central Bank, CEOs from financial and economic institutions and organizations, as well as IMF experts.
The first seminar reviewed the economic developments in the region. The second session sought to present the most prominent risks of exceeding debt expectations, especially in emerging market and developing economies, in light of the state of uncertainty surrounding public financial policy and monetary policy in countries affecting the financial system, which would affect the increase in fluctuations in sovereign returns and debt risks in other countries.
These two reports are published twice each year, providing reviews of economic developments in the region, as well as estimates and projections of macroeconomic variables, and advice on appropriate economic policies to meet the challenges.
