The Saudi Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations, Mr. Khalid Bawazier, headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the first G20 Finance and Central Banks Deputies meeting, held 11-12 December 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During his participation, Deputy Minister Bawazier noted that Saudi welcome the priorities presented by the presidency which seeks to work on enhancing global economic resilience, addressing the macroeconomic and growth risks including accelerate productivity growth in the context of AI, demographic change and migration. He also emphasizes the importance to focus on developing economies development needs.
The meeting participants held an open discussion on issues including sustainable development, high sovereign debt, as well as financial and economic challenges around the world, and ways to address them through joint international cooperation.
The Republic of South Africa assumed the presidency of the G20 from the Federative Republic of Brazil in mid-November, 2024, under the slogan "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability," with a focus on poverty, hunger, and financing, and pledging to hold nearly 130 meetings in 2025.
