His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Aljadaan, headed the Kingdom's delegation at the Preparatory Meeting of the Economic and Social Council for Arab Summit (33) at the Ministerial level, held today, May 12, 2024 in Manama, Bahrain. The meeting was attended by their Excellencies representatives of Arab League member states and a number of specialists from the Arab League Secretariat.
In his speech during the meeting, Minister Aljadaan highlighted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was privileged to host the 32nd Regular Session of the Arab Summit, which concluded with the issuance of the final statement (Jeddah Declaration), and included many initiatives that serve joint Arab action in the economic, agricultural, cultural, and educational fields.
He highlighted that the previous summit issued many important resolutions that serve the interest of joint Arab action, the most important of which is the completion of the requirements of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), as well as the approval of the Arab Strategy for Tourism, which is expected to enhance the contribution of this important sector to Arab economic development.
The participants discussed several topics added to the economic and social file to be submitted to the Arab Summit's 33rd Regular Session.
The participants emphasized the importance of strengthening joint Arab economic and social action, as well as finding urgent solutions to the challenges facing the MENA region and its people. They also noted the rapid changes in the global economy as the world confronts global economic challenges while moving forward with the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
