His Excellency the Minister of Finance, Mohammed Aljadaan, and His Excellency the Minister of Health, Fahad Aljalajel, participated today, Saturday, November 12, 2022, in the second meeting of the joint finance and health ministers of the G20, which is being held under the Indonesian presidency in Bali, with the participation of the G20 finance and health ministers, a number of representatives of the invited countries and heads of international and regional organizations.
During the first session, which was titled: "A New Financial Intermediary Fund for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response", Aljadaan highlighted the Kingdom's efforts in combating pandemics regionally and globally, including through its G20 Presidency. AlJadaan expressed his appreciation for the work carried out under the G20 Indonesian presidency to establish the fund, pointing to the importance of strengthening solidarity and coordination between the finance and health ministers in the G20 countries in order to address the various health crises.
During the second session, which was titled: "The Future Mission of the Joint Task Force between Health and Finance"; His Excellency Aljalajel stressed the importance of strengthening the global capacity to prepare for and respond to pandemics affecting societies in all its categories, stressing the centrality of cooperation to strengthen health systems and financing global health.
Aljalajel appreciated the work done by the Joint Task Force in identifying the financing gap, and their proposed modalities to strengthen the global health architecture, affirming the Kingdom's support to complete the work, especially with regard to health diagnosis and monitoring, in coordination with the Health Working Group to avoid duplication.
