German Chancellor Angela Merkel announces, that Saudi Arabia will host the G20 summit in 2020, at the closing session of the G20 group this year's meeting in Hamburg today. Accordingly, the Kingdom will lead the work and the program of the group for that year and head its meetings. The final communiqué of the leaders of the G-20 countries included this approval. The Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Al-Jadaan said, on this occasion, that the Kingdom has exerted great efforts led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, through communicating with the Group countries to support this request which is to host the G20 meetings in 2020. His Excellency added that ,the Kingdom's success in hosting the meetings, reflects its international political and economic weight; appreciation of its role and confidence in its ability to organize such important meetings. The group is considered as the main forum for economic cooperation among its member states, which represents 90 percent of the world's gross domestic product and two-thirds of the world's population. His Excellency explains and highlights the aspiration of the Kingdom to achieve tangible results that will contribute to the promotion of global economic growth and the promotion of sustainable development as the Kingdom considers hosting the Group's work as an opportunity to highlight the role of the Kingdom in this global group. And to continue its policy in cooperation with the international community in addressing the challenges facing the global economy. It also represents an opportunity to present and to address these issues and challenges from a perspective that takes into account the Kingdom's comprehensive and balanced policy. It also takes into account the needs and requirements of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Arab and Islamic countries as well as developing countries.
