 Saudi Minister of Finance Concludes His Participation in the First Day of 2024 Spring Meetings

His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Aljadaan, concluded his participation in the first day of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) 2024 Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., United States. on April 17, 2024.

 During the first day, Minister Aljadaan participated in the IMF's Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) Ministers & Governors Meeting. He emphasized the importance of implementing effective fiscal policies to bolster resilience and sustainability amid the challenges facing the global economy. He also stated that Saudi Arabia reaffirms its continuous support for the financing programs provided by the IMF to the countries of the region, while emphasizing the importance of enhancing the Fund's efforts in providing technical assistance and capacity building.

 Minister Aljadaan also participated in the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable, and highlighted taking proactive measures, such as providing technical assistance and capacity-building for low-income countries, is essential to mitigate their risk of debt distress. He also said that a clear and comprehensive debt sustainability analysis requires a specific mechanism for information exchange among all stakeholders.​

In an intervention by His Excellency Aljadaan during the first session of the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting under the Brazilian Presidency, he emphasized that the challenges facing the world, including climate change, require intensive and concerted efforts from all, and the global nature of climate change requires a joint global response with diverse solutions and approaches.

 On the sidelines of the first day of the Spring Meetings, Minister Aljadaan met with a number of ministers, central bank governors, and officials from international commercial banks, and discussed with them ways to enhance economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
